by Rebecca Herman & Wayne McBrayer at Petco Park
We have been working (eating) our way through Petco Park all year! Although we have our tried & true favorites, for research purposes (someone has to do it!) we’ve made it a quest to try as many of the ballpark eateries as possible. Today we feature a little gem that it so tucked away, you might not even know it is there.
Bub’s at the Ballpark is located somewhat “behind” the Budweiser Patio … second level – behind the right field upper deck.
Their menu is limited but appropriate as it provides you with a couple chicken sandwich options as well as the standard Friar Frank, snacks … PLUS … Bub’s Tots and Brownies! What more could you wish for?
The staff is very friendly and helpful and provided us with recommendations for our first visit. She said we really must try the “Bub’s BBQ Ranch Chicken Sandwich” ($9.50) and the “Bub’s Ball Park Tots” ($7.00) – and we did!
It is hard to describe how truly good this sandwich is … the chicken is incredibly tender yet you can taste the light crispiness from it being grilled. The BBQ sauce and ranch dressing was outstanding. In fact, I ate it with a fork – foregoing the bread. However, I did sample the bread and it was fresh, soft, and tasty … but the food on the bread is certainly good enough to eat with a fork should you desire to save a few calories! I suggest doing just that so you have room for the TOTS!
These were simply amazing. It brings back childhood memories of tater tots but with a grown-up flair. As the menu says, “smothered in homemade chili and cheese with onions and sliced hot dogs.” WOW! We opted for no onions but added jalapenos and that was terrific.
We certainly recommend Bub’s at the Ballpark. Take a stroll behind the Budweiser Patio and check them out this week!
