After missing 4 months of the 2015 season due to a fractured fibula, Josh VanMeter bounced back in a big way for the 2016 season. Josh began the season playing for the A+ Lake Elsinore Storm and was selected to the California League All-Star Team. Before being promoted to AA San Antonio, he was batting .267 with 12 Home Runs and 51 RBI’s while splitting time between 2B and 3B. When he was called up to AA San Antonio, Josh was moved to 3B full time and struggled in the field as well as at the plate. That didn’t deter the Padres from sending him to the Arizona Fall League where he has played well, hitting .275 with a .456 OBP, while competing against the best of the best in the minor leagues.
Before the October 28, 2016 game between the Peoria Javelinas vs. Mesa Solar Sox, Josh took some time to talk with us about what it is like playing in the Fall League as well as his career up to this point. Josh was friendly and took the time to wish someone we know a happy birthday. Padres fans, we introduce to you Josh VanMeter.
